Off-label Protocol for Alzheimer’s Disease
At Modalis, we are committed to exploring emerging, evidence-informed approaches that may support people living with psychiatric and neurological conditions.
We are currently offering access to an investigational protocol for Alzheimer’s disease based on early-stage research conducted at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. This protocol is off-label and remains at a research-level stage, meaning it has not yet been validated as a standard treatment.
About the Protocol
The protocol is informed by findings from a recent research study published in the Neurobiology of Aging journal, which examined whether the TMS protocol could modulate functional connectivity and cognition in mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease. While the results were encouraging, it is important to keep in mind that the study was small and further research is required before solid conclusions can be made about it’s short-term and long-term effectiveness. Our delivery of this protocol aims to replicate and build upon the existing research under carefully monitored conditions.
Who May Be Eligible?
This protocol may be suitable for individuals who are in the early stages of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease. Suitability will depend on clinical history, current health status, and safety screening. The person receiving treatment must have the capacity to provide consent in order to receive this protocol.
- Treatment sessions take approximately 45 minutes each, including set-up time.
- The protocol targets 4 treatment sites each session: the left and right Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex (DLPFC) and the left and right Posterior Parietal Cortex (PCC).
- Treatment sessions are delivered once per weekday, for 36 sessions in total (approximately 7-8 weeks).
As this protocol for Alzheimer’s disease is off-label and of a research nature, we cannot guarantee that the treatment will be successful. Please note that results may vary significantly between individuals, and this is not a long-term cure for the condition.
Fees
Please note that fees apply for this treatment. Our pricing supports the resources and operational costs needed to provide this service, including specialised equipment, trained clinical expertise, and the ongoing support needed to ensure safe and high-quality care.
Unfortunately treatment sessions using this protocol are not eligible for Medicare rebates.
